HOME FRONT
2009 - 2011 | Digital Composite Images | Archival pigment prints, 20” x 16” | Limited Edition of 45 Prints |
Home Front explores the memory of conflict played out in the lives and homes of aging Air Force veterans of World War II. Veteran members of the artist's family were interviewed extensively, and asked to speak about their fears and memories of wartime, and how they experience these fears in the real world. Each interview resulted in a collaborative composite image, the result of scans of archival photographs from their collections, juxtaposed with new imagery of the landscapes of the Midwestern United States, and digital image manipulation (in 2D or 3D), to build images that parallel the requests of the veteran co-authors.
